Principals challenged to continue moving LRSD forward

July 26, 2010 · By LRSD Communications ·

Principal’s Leadership, an annual week-long professional development for building administrators in the Little Rock School District, began this Monday. This year principals will receive valuable leadership training, review the goals for the district and set goals for their campuses, and be briefed in the latest legal issues in Special Education.

Guest speaker Sonya Whitaker, a superintendent in Illinois, inspired principals to become effective leaders in their buildings through communications, addressing their fears, and bringing out the true potential of their employees.

The out-of-state leader of her own district also noted the progress LRSD has made with student achievement this year and how this progress is being noticed in the Little Rock community. Whitaker asked, “What are you going to do to reach the next level? The community sees your progress and expects you to reach the next level.”

With the challenge laid forth, the expectations set, and leadership principals in place, district and building administrators are prepared to move the district to that “next level.”
